Description
**Originally Listed At $500**
Central Asia, India, ca. late 16th to early 17th century CE. A beautiful cast-bronze statuette of Mahishasuramardini in a striking pose. He stands on an integral tiered rectangular platform with his eight outstretched arms holding their own individual attributes. His visage stares outwards, seemingly indifferent to the current predicament taking place directly below him. His right leg is bent and stepping on the back of Yali, a mythical amalgam chimera comprised of parts from a horse, elephant, and a lion. In front of his left leg is a demon being slain by the Trishula (or Trident of Shiva). With its rich iconography and fantastic dark-green patina, this is a fabulous depiction of the Mahishasuramardini! Size: 4" H (10.2 cm).
Provenance: private Maui, Hawaii, USA collection
All items legal to buy/sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, CHAPTER 14, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back.
