Description

Small Washington County, Virginia stoneware jar with elaborate cobalt floral decoration on both sides and and small lug handles. Flaring rim with incised lines on the upper shoulder, base with beaded edge. 7 1/2" H x 4" dia. (at the mouth). 3rd quarter 19th century. Provenance: Brad Swanson Collection, Abingdon, VA. Note: This jar was exhibited in the "Legacy in Clay: Pottery of Washington County, Virginia" 2005 exhibit, William King Regional Arts Center, Abingdon, VA.
