STAMPED "W. H. LEHEW & CO / STRASBURG VA." SHENANDOAH VALLEY OF VIRGINIA DECORATED STONEWARE JAR, salt-glazed, "2" gallon capacity mark, cylindrical form with squared rim. Brushed cobalt dropped flower and feathered leaf decoration repeated around shoulder. Stamp in serrated frame and with reversed S's. The pottery of William H. Lehew (b. c. 1825-aft. 1891), Strasburg, VA. Circa 1870. 12 1/2" H, 7 1/2" D rim.
Excellent condition, rim with 1 1/2" and 2" light hairlines, another minor hairline at base.
