Description
Antique needlework band or marking sampler, vertical orientation with openwork embroidered border enclosing rows of upper and lowercase alphabets and numbers. Although simple in overall presentation, a variety of stitches are represented, particularly in the lines dividing the rows of alphabets. Mid 19th century. 17" x 12". Provenance: the estate of Margaret Wemyss Connor, Nashville, Tennessee, and descended in the Wemyss family, living in Alabama about the time this sampler was made.
Condition
Unfinished and unframed. Light overall discoloration and a few small stains.
