HAVANA (AP) – Even Cubans who don’t speak a word of English eat “un cake” on their birthdays.

They wear “los tennis” and “bloomers.” Their kids go crazy for Taylor Swift and The Big Bang Theory. U.S. science fiction master Ray Bradbury has pride of place on their bookshelves beside revolutionary poet Jose Marti.

MILANO, Italia – A Nato nel 1929 ad Alcamo in provincia di Trapani, Turi Simeti è uno dei protagonisti dell’arte italiana degli anni 60. Dalla Sicilia si è trasferito a Roma nel 1958 dove si è avvicinato al mondo dell’arte e ha conosciuto Alberto Burri. Ha avviato la sua produzione artistica già nei primi anni 60, inizialmente improntata alla ricerca dell’azzeramento dell’arte e vicina alle esperienze del Gruppo Zero.

PHILADELPHIA – In 1792, President George Washington appointed scientist David Rittenhouse to launch the first US Mint in the nation’s then-capital, Philadelphia. It is said that Washington, who lived only a few blocks from the Mint, even donated some of his own personal silver to help launch the fledgling monetary system.

MILAN, Italy – Born in 1929 in Alcamo, near Trapani, in Sicily, Turi Simeti is one of the leading figures of the Italian art of the 1960s. He moved to Rome in 1958 where met Italian painter and sculptor Alberto Burri. Simeti began his art career in the early 1960s, initially pursuing the zeroing of art in a similar way like other contemporary experiences of the Zero group.
