NEW YORK (AP) – A full-scale copper replica of Lady Liberty’s face is the first thing that greets visitors to the museum in the base of the Statue of Liberty.

But the face that gives visitors a chance to get up close and personal with an aspect of the statue that otherwise looms far out of reach is available to only a limited number of visitors. The museum is open only to those who have tickets to the pedestal or the crown.

BEACHWOOD, Ohio – Antique napkin rings are used today as part of the new “green” movement. The cloth napkin used at dinner, if almost clean, can be carefully folded, rolled up and saved in the napkin ring. It saves soap, water and the energy needed to launder it after each meal.

London museum acquires Lucian Freud archive

LONDON – An important archive comprising Lucian Freud’s sketchbooks, drawings and letters has been acquired by the UK from the estate of Lucian Freud. The archive has been permanently allocated to the National Portrait Gallery, which in 2012 staged the acclaimed “Lucian Freud Portraits” exhibition, the gallery’s most visited ticketed exhibition.

BEAUNE, France (AFP) – Organizers of France’s most celebrated charity wine auction said Sunday that 480,000 euros ($515,000) of the 11 million euros ($11.8 million) raised this year would go to charity, including to victims of the Paris attacks.

NEW YORK (AP) – An antiques dealer has been sentenced in New York to two years in prison for smuggling objects made of rhinoceros horns from the U.S. to China.

U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara says Linxun Liao was sentenced Thursday for trafficking rhino-horn libation cups worth $1 million.
