GENESEO, N.Y. – Cottone Auctions celebrated 30 years in business in style with a 519-lot sale on March 19 that grossed around $1.7 million. Leading the charge was a porcelain enamel on steel work by the American pop artist Roy Lichtenstein titled Modern Painting in Porcelain. It brought $189,750. Works by Alexander Calder also did well, as did Tiffany lamps.

NEW YORK (AP) – A rare 1776 broadside printing of the Declaration of Independence is coming to a New York City auction next week.
It’s estimated to bring about $160,000 when Heritage Auctions offers it on April 5.

Smithsonian to include Bill Cosby items in new history museum

WASHINGTON (AP) – The Smithsonian and Bill Cosby can’t seem to escape one another. After facing criticism for an exhibit of works from Cosby’s personal art collection, the Smithsonian plans to include two items related to Cosby at its new African-American history museum on the National Mall.
