DENVER, Pa. – Fine and decorative art of utmost quality and rarity shared the spotlight alongside premier timepieces and jewelry at Morphy’s Dec. 5-6 auction, which closed the books confidently at more than $4 million. Holding court over the 1,539 lots of elegant antiques and luxury goods was an 18K gold Rolex timepiece that had created a buzz in the watch-collecting community ever since its consignment was first announced. RICHMOND, Va. (AP) – A mystery donor has given the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts its most valuable gift of a single work of art in its decades-long history.

Rolex ‘Paul Newman’ watch commands $578,100 at Morphy’s

DENVER, Pa. – Morphy’s Dec. 5-6 Fine & Decorative Arts Auction, which realized more than $4 million, had star power working in its favor. An 18K gold Rolex timepiece that had created a buzz in the watch-collecting community ever since its consignment was first announced soared to the top of prices realized when it sold for $578,100 (inclusive of buyer’s premium).
