Trio of Ansel Adams photos top $87,000 at Leighton Galleries

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. – Leighton Galleries’ July 30 auction highlighted a fresh-to-the-market collection of three framed Ansel Adams photographs. Leading off as lots 1 through 3, Moonrise, Hernandez, New Mexico realized $35,000, Clearing Winter Storm, Yosemite Valley achieved $30,000 and Aspens, Northern New Mexico, 1958 rounded out the trio at $22,000. Prices quoted are hammer prices and do not include the buyer’s premium.

LiveAuctioneers.com provided absentee and Internet live bidding. The winning bidder of Aspens, Northen New Mexico, utilized LiveAuctioneers’ Internet bid platform. The backup bidders on the other two Adams photographs also used LiveAuctioneers.com.

Other highlights included a a Marti French bronze and champleve clock garniture that sold to a LiveAuctioneers bidder for $8,500, a platinum and 3.5 carat diamond engagement ring that also climbed to $8,500, and a large Chinese blue and white vase that shocked the crowed selling for $14,000, estimated at $1,200-$1,500.
