NEW YORK – A Van Cleef & Arpels cocktail ring set with an 8.86-carat natural Burmese ruby, a circa-1970s Van Cleef & Arpels gold and diamond bow bracelet, and a David Webb multi-gemstone totem pendant necklace on an 18K gold chain will fight for top-lot status at Jasper52’s Exclusive Estate and Designer Jewelry auction, which will take place on Tuesday, February 21 at 8 pm Eastern time. Absentee and Internet live bidding will be available through LiveAuctioneers.

The 327-lot sale is distinguished by an abundance of brand-name pieces. Works by Oscar Heyman include a vintage gold, platinum, diamond and emerald tennis bracelet and a sapphire, diamond and platinum necklace that can be converted into two bracelets and a brooch. Fred Leighton is represented by a 1950s pair of gold, citrine and rock crystal dangle earrings and also a pair of turquoise, diamond and platinum clip-ons.

Contributions from Rene Boivin include an Art Deco two-tone 18K yellow and white gold clip and a gold, diamond and ruby Tremblant brooch in the form of an orchid. Seaman Schepps appears in the form of a 1960s 14K gold and bakelite seashell brooch and an early 21st-century wood and gold curb link necklace that separates into two bracelets.

The highlights feature two treasures from Van Cleef & Arpels and one from the noted designer David Webb. The first of the two Van Cleef & Arpels pieces is a cocktail ring, dating to 1985, which showcases an 8.86-carat natural Burmese ruby cut into an oval cabochon shape. It is placed in a gold setting and attended by three rows of round brilliant cut diamonds of F-G color and VVS clarity, with a total weight of 4.68 carats. The size seven ring comes with a Van Cleef & Arpels letter of authenticity and is estimated at $62,000-$74,000.

The second offering from Van Cleef & Arpels is a 1970s 18K gold bracelet in the form of a bow encrusted with 10 carats’ worth of E-F color, VVS clarity diamonds. The bracelet comes in an original Van Cleef & Arpels box and is estimated at $111,000-$133,000.

The final highlight is a striking 1980s David Webb totem pendant necklace on an 18K gold chain. The lot notes state that the totem pendant is one of Webb’s most sought-after motifs, and this particular one features gold, coral, chrysoprase, ruby, lapis lazuli and 50 round brilliant cut diamonds of G-H color and VS clarity, weighing 1.20 carats. The lot notes make the keen observation that “The diamonds are set in platinum which accentuates their whiteness.” The David Webb necklace has an estimate of $49,000-$59,000.
