KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The first of two major Case auctions featuring art and antiques from Nashville antiques dealer Pia Stratton’s business and personal collection is set for Saturday, October 8. Items from several other estates, private collections and two museums, including the Arkansas Museum of Art, are also included in the nearly 600-lot auction. Absentee and Internet live bidding will be available through LiveAuctioneers.

For Nashville antiques dealer Pia Norman Stratton, the selling of European fine and decorative arts was more than a business. It was a family affair that began when her mother, Duina Zacchini Norman, a former circus trapeze artist, opened a store in Nashville’s 8th Avenue Antiques District in 1963. Norman named it after her daughter, Pia, and as “Pia the daughter” grew up, mother and daughter built “Pia the shop” into one of the city’s most exclusive and longest-running antiques establishments. When Norman passed away in 2006, Pia spearheaded the business until her own death last year at the age of 69.
