NEW YORK – On Wednesday, January 4, starting at 5 pm Eastern time, Jasper52 will hold a sale titled Exquisite Fine Art Paintings and Prints. Absentee and Internet live bidding will be available through LiveAuctioneers.

The 161-lot sale lineup seemingly has something for everyone, and French artists and French subjects alike are well-represented. Examples include a Patrice Poindrelle oil on canvas of figures in a Parisian park; French Artist Adolphe Lalyre’s depiction of Sirens and Cupid dancing along the seashore; Raymond Solari’s Fauvist landscape of a Brittany coastal scene; a circa-1830s French School painting of a dog curled up on a cushion, which has a distinctively folk art look; William Mercier’s rendition of the Arc de Triomphe at dusk; and a Huguette Ginet-Lasnier painting of a family on a golden yellow beach.

Still other works of note include Two Elegant Brides, a circa-1940s fashion illustration by Genevieve Thomas; a psychedelic abstract painting by Claude Lagouche, dating to the 1970s; a still life of oranges by British artist Pamela Cawley; a J.B. Holmes oil painting on board titled Two Ladies Working at the Kitchen Table; British botanical watercolors that date to circa 1900; and English Town, a signed circa-1970s watercolor by Ronald Birch.

Among the highlights of the January 4 auction is a French post-Impressionist school landscape of Provence, estimated at $10,000-$12,000. Measuring a generous 21.5 by 25.75in, the painting reflects a nuanced and deft balancing of lavender purple and butter yellow.

Another standout is Lost Faces, a 43 by 38in acrylic on canvas by the British contemporary artist Minty Ramsey. Created in 2017, Lost Faces ably straddles the line between figurative and abstract art. It carries an estimate of $6,000-$7,000.

The final highlight is a circa-1890 painting titled Elegant Figures Dressed for an Evening Out and attributed to the circle of Henri Toulouse-Lautrec. It shows a couple against a dark, evidently unfinished background, sharing a secret at which we can only guess. Its estimate is $8,000-$10,000.
