NEW YORK – On Tuesday, April 19, starting at 2 pm Eastern time, Jasper52 will conduct a sale entirely devoted to pearl jewelry. Boasting 194 lots, Fine Pearl Jewelry delivers dozens of variations on the venerated gems of the sea, in color, shape, origin and jewelry design. Traditional white, round pearls are available in the form of a double-strand saltwater Akoya pearl necklace, but the auction lineup shows that pearls provide their own lustrous interpretation of the rainbow.

Among the other lots on offer are a necklace of large rainbow peacock Tahitian pearls; a bracelet of golden lavender-pink Edison cultured pearls; a long necklace strung with silvery Keshi freshwater pearls; an 18K gold pendant that unites South Sea and Tahitian pearls in a sunburst pattern; a silver ring, crowned by a round, metallic-green Tahitian pearl; a graduated string of chocolate-bronze Tahitian pearls, fashioned into an 18K gold necklace; a necklace of freshwater cultured pearls, displaying shades of apricot, lavender and pink and united by a silver heart-shaped clasp; and South Sea beauties in the form of a 14K gold pair of pearl drop earrings as well as a single-strand necklace featuring large pearls with an unmistakably golden glow. Absentee and Internet live bidding will be available through LiveAuctioneers.

Leading this trove of Poseidon’s treasures is a pair of 14K gold hook earrings, each fitted with a single deep gold-colored South Sea pearl that measures 10 to 11 millimeters, or 0.39 to 0.43 inches. Such pearls are yielded by the gold-lipped Pinctada Maxima oyster, which favors the warm waters off the coast of Australia. The earrings are estimated at $1,000-$1,100.

A second stunner is a 14K white gold necklace strung with rainbow peacock pearls cultured in the waters of the South Pacific island of Tahiti. The drop-shaped pearls range in size from 12 to 15 millimeters, or 0.47 to 0.59 inches. The necklace is estimated at $4,500-$4,950.

The third and final highlight is yet another jaw-dropper – a necklace that features golden South Sea pearls. The single-strand 18K gold necklace boasts near-round pearls that each measure between 13 and 17 millimeters, or 0.51 to 0.66 inches. The necklace, which comes with an authenticity certificate issued by the Pearl Science Lab of Japan, has an estimate of $18,000-$20,000.
