NEW YORK – On Wednesday, April 26, starting at 4 pm Eastern time, Jasper52 will hold a sale of Furniture, Home Decor, and Collectibles. Absentee and Internet live bidding will be available through LiveAuctioneers.

The sale, consisting of 227 lots, is particularly strong in the category of furniture. Mid-century Modern choices include a Florence Knoll chrome sofa from the 1970s, newly upholstered in an attractive blue tufted velvet; a 1990s James Irvine for B&B Italia Lunar sofa or daybed; a circa-1960 BoConcept Shelly scoop swivel lounge chair and ottoman, newly upholstered in teal suede; a low-profile walnut credenza, made by the Ohio Desk Co. in the 1960s; and a set of seven 1960s Arne Jacobsen for Fritz Hansen Series 7 chairs.

Also featured are several lots of antique Shanxi Province Chinese furnishings, such as a tall, painted, black lacquer apothecary or medicine cabinet, dating to circa 1880; a pair of custom elm cabinets built circa 1900; a lacquered elm cabinet with painted doors, also from this same general period; a circa-1900s elm side table with a stone top, as well as a coffee table with a green marble top; and a nightstand or sideboard, also dating to circa 1880 and also fashioned from elm.

Unusual and hard-to-come-by forms are also on offer. Among them are a pair of circa-1950s two-tone Koken Presidential barber chairs; a 1970s sculptural floor lamp and shelf by Modeline of California, rendered in a Space Age style that supports both with a tapered black circle – the single shelf bisects the circle and the glass globe light hangs from its peak; a pair of 1950s French Renaissance Revival side cabinets with flared legs, which make them look as if they are taking basic positions in a ballet class; and a 1950s Regency-style Baker Furniture wingback lounge chair that has been reupholstered with a spiffy, zebra-like covering.

Highlights include a colorful 1990s piece of multimedia abstract textured wall art. Dubbed Golden Meadow and credited to John Douglas, it is estimated at $8,000-$10,000.

Another standout is a vintage glass and metal large drum chandelier by Serafina. It sports a hand-rubbed brass frame, weighs 106 pounds and has an estimate of $5,500-$7,000.

Completing the highlights is a circa-1880 pair of hand-carved elm Top Hat Official chairs from Shanxi Province. They have retained their original red color and patina and carry an estimate of $8,000-$10,000.
