NEW YORK – Jasper52 will host a benefit auction titled Fashion Fights Cancer on Tuesday, March 8 to raise funds for the charity of the same name. The start time is 6pm Eastern. Absentee and Internet live bidding will be available through LiveAuctioneers.

Founded in 2004, Fashion Fights Cancer (FFC) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that offers innovative and therapeutic programs in fashion and design. FFC also acts as a sanctuary for cancer patients, survivors and their loved ones, and seeks to empower those who have been affected by cancer in the United States and internationally. The 118-lot benefit auction features artworks by Idris Habib, Patrick Hughes, Lisa Whittington, Kelly Bernard, Victor Ekpuk, Andy Dass, Ruth Owens, Marco Gallota, Sabrina Coleman-Pinheiro, Nkechi Ebubedike, Clara Fialho, Donald Thomas Earley, Lauren Dana Smith, Angela Costanzo Paris, Sean Sarafin, David Olatoye, Molly Brocklehurst and many others.

Lots of note include Sean Sarafin’s Untitled #871, an oil on Azek panel. Described as a landscape, the 24 by 24in work boasts strong and compelling abstract qualities. The Sarafin is estimated at $4,500-$5,500.

Equally alluring is Craig, an undated work in cut-out paper and acrylics by Marco Gallota. The Italian-born New York City resident is known for incorporating paper-cutting techniques in his artworks, as well as printmaking, painting and drawing. Craig has the same measurements as the Sarafin and carries an identical estimate of $4,500-$5,500.

The final highlight is Globetrotter W by Idris Habib, a 2021 work rendered in oil pastels on cotton map fabric. Born in Accra, Ghana, Habib, who also goes by the name Sir Idris, is a self-taught artist and does not hesitate to apply pigment with his fingers when brush strokes won’t achieve the effect he wants. Globetrotter W features an image of a woman with a dreamy, perhaps hopeful look on her face, with the map fabric boldly showing through, patterning her skin as well as the background. It measures 105 by 55in and is estimated at $25,000-$30,000.
