NEW YORK – On Wednesday, August 9, starting at 6 pm Eastern time, Jasper52 will present a sale of Premium Loose Gemstones, consisting of 179 lots. Absentee and Internet live bidding will be available through LiveAuctioneers.

It can be argued that top-grade gemstones are more intriguing than finished pieces of jewelry because of the potential they represent. Glorious and glittering, they’re ready to be turned into anything that can be dreamed up. The choices in the August 9 sale include an unheated, GRS-certified natural ruby of 2.06 carats; a fancy brownish-yellow GIA-certified diamond weighing precisely one carat; a 7.44-carat spinel with a cobalt blue hue; a mixed grouping of natural tourmalines, some pink, some green, some in-between, together weighing 56 carats; and a natural 29.5-carat aquamarine from Nagar Pakistan sporting an exquisite shade of ice blue.

Also demanding mention are a peachy-pink fancy cut natural morganite that weighs 26.09 carats; a 3.10-carat blue sapphire, cut in the shape of a heart; a natural Ethiopian multi-color welo opal cut as an oval cabochon and weighing 28.40 carats; a stunning Santa Maria Blue-colored aquamarine of 16.10 carats; a golden-yellow sinhalite that weighs 6.80 carats; a 39.84-carat citrine with a color described as ‘blistering luster orange;’ vivid green natural Colombian emeralds from the Muzo mine, offered as separate lots, one weighing 1.76 carats and the other 2.12 carats; and a natural blue topaz, cushion cut and tipping the scales at 109.18 carats.

Leading the highlights is a natural blue tanzanite weighing 7.47 carats. Described as “flawless” and “clean” and having VS clarity, the loose stone is estimated at $6,000-$7,000.

More impressive still is a natural peach-color kunzite that came from Afghanistan. Weighing a hefty 486 carats, it is estimated at $4,500-$5,500.

Also originating in Afghanistan is the third highlight, another natural kunzite, of which Barbie and her acolytes would approve. The faceted magenta-pink stone weighs 366 carats and carries an estimate of $5,000-$6,000.
