CLINTONDALE, N.Y. – On Monday, March 6, Kensington Estate Auction will present a breathtaking on-line auction consisting of 179 lots. Absentee and Internet live bidding will be available through LiveAuctioneers.

The New York Yacht Club’s cutter The Volunteer successfully defended the America’s Cup in 1887. The Danish-American artist Thomas Willis fashioned an oil painting of the cutter with riggings of silk stitched through the canvas, giving it a sense of three-dimensionality. His ship portrait, titled Volunteer, has a modest estimate of $1,000-$3,000. While it is an example of exceptional art, so too is the watercolor of Eugene Lejeune’s Children Playing With Dogs, Margaret Wynn’s British equestrian painting and Fulvio De Sorrento’s luminous painting of the Italian coast.
