NEW YORK – A group of 10 serving trays by Alphonse Debain; a 298-piece flatware set by Boin-Taburet, offered with a 15-piece serving platter set; and a late 19th-century eight-piece tea and coffee set by Emile Puiforcat will likely earn top lot status at Jasper52’s Exclusive Sterling Silver Auction, which will be conducted Wednesday, November 30, starting at 11 am Eastern time. Absentee and Internet live bidding will be available through LiveAuctioneers.

The 183-lot sale is dominated by examples of French silver. It features several objects by the renowned French maker Christofle, including a 10-piece tea and coffee set, a pair of five-arm Louis XVl candelabra, a seven-piece platter set, and a mahogany and silver plate Champagne bucket stand.

Numerous examples of vermeil – gold-plated silver – are on offer, among them a late 19th-century tea set and tray by Odiot; a circa-1890s Napoleon III liquor-serving set, also by Odiot, with four decanters, several cups and a tray; and a range of choices for dessert flatware sets, including a 51-piece example presented in its original two-tiered storage chest.

The lineup delivers a veritable feast of tureens, tea and coffee sets, candelabra and sauce boats, as might be expected, but it also has less common pieces, such as an 1850s covered jam server by Fry, which is accompanied by a dozen vermeil serving spoons; an 18th-century set of six salt cellars and a mustard server, in its original custom-made storage chest; and a set of 16 Art Deco-era chargers, or presentation plates, their rims decorated with imitation sapphires and rubies.

The first highlight, the 10-piece serving tray set by French silversmith Alphonse Debain, dates to the 1880s and consists of four oval platters and six round platters in 950 sterling silver in the Louis XVI style. It is estimated at $34,000-$41,000.

Equally alluring is the eight-piece tea and coffee set by Emile Puiforcat, also in Louis XVI style, which consists of a samovar, a samovar warmer, a hot chocolate server, a tea pot, a coffee pot, a sugar bowl, a cream pitcher and a serving tray. As with the Alphonse Debain tray set, it, too, is of 950 sterling silver. It carries an estimate of $32,000-$38,000.

Rounding out the highlights is a circa-1890s sterling silver and vermeil flatware set and also a serving platter set, all bearing the hallmark of Boin-Taburet. The flatware set boasts 298 pieces, including a tart server, an asparagus server, separate serving scoops for ice cream and custard, an olive-serving spoon, a berry-serving spoon, and 24 dessert knives with mother-of-pearl handles. The 15-piece serving platter set reflects the firm’s Shell pattern, and features round and oval serving platters, a three-piece covered vegetable server and a three-piece gravy boat. The whole is estimated at $86,000-$103,000.
