On offer from him is a circa-1886 pastel and black chalk on paper titled Le Reassemblement (The Reassembly). The sketch, estimated at $8,000-$16,000, shows a crowd in the center of a town, and the back of this framed mixed media on paper has an appraisal from 2018 from Art Avenue Gallery Appraisals.
There are multiple important books and ephemera featured on the first day of the auction. Leading off the group will be a book signed by Victor Hugo to George Sand and estimated at $4,000-$6,000. Actes et Paroles is a first edition in the original French that was written and signed by Victor Hugo. The book comes in a gold medal award-winning binding by Petrus Ruban from the World’s Fair held at the Brussels International Exposition in 1897.
