ATLANTA – Over 1,100 lots of 19th and 20th century art, fine furnishings, Asian objects and works of art, gorgeous Persian rugs, garden accents, and fine collectibles will come up for bid the weekend of August 27 and 28 at Great Gatsby’s Auction Gallery, in the firm’s gallery at 5180 Peachtree Blvd.

Headlining the two-day auction of fine estates will be property belonging to a former American senior executive for Honeywell Corp., acquired while based in China over a 10-year period, and original artworks from a collector in Portland, Oregon.

Absentee and Internet bidding will be available through LiveAuctioneers.com.

Fine art will be offered in abundance. Key lots will include a watercolor and crayon depiction of actor Sylvester Stallone by American artist Leroy Neiman (1921-2012), inscribed, dated (1985) and numbered; and a charcoal on paper by Paul-Emile Pissarro (French, 1884-1972), circa 1959, and titled River Landscape, 28 inches by 32 inches (in the frame) and artist signed.

For those nostalgic for mid-century illustration, original oil paintings by James Alfred Meese (American, 1917-1971) will be on offer. One, of a woman in a red bandeau top and skirt, speaking to a police officer in a quasi-erotic encounter, served as original cover art for the Signet pulp fiction novel A Private Stair (1955). The artwork measures 25 inches tall by 25 inches wide in the frame.
