NEW YORK – On Wednesday, December 14, starting at 7 pm Eastern time, Jasper52 will present a sale of Contemporary Fine Art and Prints. Absentee and Internet live bidding will be available through LiveAuctioneers.

The tightly curated sale – it contains just 71 lots – nonetheless has a great deal of range. Among the works on offer is a 1996 Robert Indiana Love screenprint; an amusing 1978 lithograph by Red Grooms, dubbed Museum; a Paul Jenkins abstract lithograph from 1964 that bears a striking resemblance to a human heart; Patrick Hughes’s pleasing 1982 serigraph Splash of Colour, which depicts a rainbow with one end on a diving board and the other in a pool; and a Raymond Saunders lithograph with silkscreen and collage from 1975 titled Duck Out of Water.

Also featured are works by Robert Kulicke, James Rosenquist, Milton Glaser, Michael Knigin, Max Papart, Alphonse Mucha, Chaim Koppleman, Mon Levinson, Henri Matisse, Roger Muhl, Sunday B. Morning, Allan Mardon, Lowell Nesbit and several by Roberto Matta.

Marion Scott, ‘Trapeze Artists,’ estimated at $350-$400

First among the highlights is a 1970 silkscreen credited to Marion Scott and titled Trapeze Artists. The delightful print portrays a sky full of young costumed acrobats tumbling and dangling from swings in a scene that looks to be in dire need of some form of air traffic control. It measures 20 by 16in, it is number 115 of an edition of 200, and its estimate is $350-$400.

Also of note is a 1980 12-color lithograph on Arches paper by the French artist Jean Claude Quilici, who clearly has a fondness for depictions of the seaside and the beach. Plage en Corse (Beach in Corsica) is just such a composition, with a preponderance of blue sun umbrellas festooning the shore. The signed 22 by 30in work is number three from an edition of 150 plus 10 artist’s proofs. It is estimated at $700-$800.

Completing the highlights is Jack Youngerman’s 1970 silkscreen on paper Changes No. 8, which has an estimate of $700-$800. Youngerman’s life was as rich as the colors of his artworks; he and Ellsworth Kelly were lifelong friends, and while he was studying in France at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts, he met Alexander Calder and visited the studios of Jean Arp and Constantin Brancusi. Changes No. 8 is signed and dated, measures 42.5 by 32.5in, and was published by Pace Editions.
