NEW YORK – Bianca Cutait has joined Bonhams as a senior specialist for the Post-War & Contemporary Art department, based in Miami. At a time when Bonhams is rapidly expanding its international presence, Cutait will leverage her extensive experience and connections to source works and grow Bonhams’ presence in Miami and Latin America.
Originally from Sao Paulo, Cutait has worked in many different aspects of the art industry in Brazil as well as the United States and Switzerland. Prior to joining Bonhams, she founded Arte Fundamental, an international art advisory firm with a gallery in Miami, which exhibited regionally and internationally recognized Latin American and American artists, such as Gilberto Salvador, Claudio Tozzi, Steve McCurry and Enrique Tabara. In recent years, the company’s work pivoted to a specialization in NFTs and digital art that successfully saw the launch of artist Rubem Robierb’s NFT collection through SuperRare and OpenSea platforms.
Additionally, Cutait has written widely on the art market for major publications such as Robb Report Brazil, Forbes and Vogue and is fluent in five languages, including English, Portuguese and Spanish.
“We are very pleased to have Bianca join our team,” commented Bonhams Director and Head of Sale for Post-War & Contemporary Art in New York, Andrew Huber. “Her deep connection to the art community not only in Miami but throughout Latin America will be a major asset in our ability to expand our client base and what we can offer them.”
The US Post-War & Contemporary Art department has already seen great success this year, with three artist world records realized in their May sale for Martin Wong, Kenny Scharf and Felrath Hines. Building upon that success, the department will be offering a single-lot auction of Ernie Barnes’ Solid Rock Congregation on September 9 and will be presenting the exhibition Medium is the Message: Women Artists in Contemporary Art, from August 29 – September 9.
