NEW YORK (AP) – Players making their big league debuts will be specially marked this season. Major League Baseball announced before the season-opening games on March 30 that players making their first appearances will wear debut patches on their jerseys. The patch will appear on different places on a sleeve, depending on the team and any anniversary of sponsor patches.

LOS ANGELES (AP) – Hall of Fame broadcaster Vin Scully, whose dulcet tones provided the soundtrack of summer while entertaining and informing Dodgers fans in Brooklyn and Los Angeles for 67 years, died on the evening of August 2. He was 94.
