NEW YORK – Hindman has announced its first series of New York exhibitions and events at the High Line Nine Galleries, in advance of the auction house launching a permanent location. It will preview highlights from major collections this spring, across the categories of Post-War & Contemporary Art, European Art, Asian Art and Jewelry & Watches at the Chelsea gallery.

“We are excited to open our doors for the first time since establishing a New York presence in the historic arts district of Chelsea,” said Hindman Managing Director, New York Region Gemma Sudlow. “The extraordinary estate of Susann Craig, a passionate outsider art collector and a founder of Chicago’s Intuit Art Center connects beautifully with New York’s annual Outsider Art Fair. We are also delighted to be previewing highlights from significant Asian Art collections during Asia Week, and spotlighting our Important Jewelry auction in April.”

Hindman will preview highlights from the following spring auctions, as well as additional selections from marquee sales:

March 2-5 | Roadside Attractions: The Susann Craig Collection, Chicago, IL in conjunction with the Outsider Art Fair | The personal collection of esteemed outsider art collector Susann Craig (1936-2021), which occupied her Chicago loft designed by Jeanne Gang, will be presented. A champion of boundless creativity and a founder of Intuit: The Center for Intuitive and Outsider Art in Chicago, Craig’s legacy cannot be understated. A portion of the remitted proceeds of the Thursday, March 9 auction will benefit Intuit.

Hindman is one of the sponsors of the Outsider Art Fair, and a selection of works from the collection will be available for preview on the fair’s digital platform.

March 16-18 | Asian Art | Several important private collections from Hindman’s March Asian Art Sales will be previewed. Highlights include early 20th-century works by Wu Changshuo, Huang Junbi, Pu Ru and Zhao Shao’Ang from the estate of diplomat Cheng Boa Nan; Chinese Ming-Qing dynasty porcelains from the estate of Makoto Sakurai as well as Chinese Ming-Qing dynasty jade carvings from a New York collection.

April 27 | Important Jewelry | A timeless selection of sophisticated jewelry will highlight Hindman’s Tuesday, May 16 Important Jewelry auction, offering designs for every level of collector. The sale will feature Art Deco pieces by Cartier, as well as jewelry by Tiffany & Co., David Webb and Jean Mahie. Multiple abstract brooches from the well-known Tadema Gallery will also be featured.
