SOUTHAMPTON, N.Y. – The Roland NY auction house will present an exhibition of the works of abstract sculptor Tony Rosenthal (American, 1914-2009) at the Hamptons Fine Arts Fair on the grounds of the Southampton Fairgrounds July 14-17. The Arts Fair will feature 85 galleries from around the world.

This selection, presented exclusively by Roland NY in collaboration with the Tony Rosenthal estate, will include many never-before-exhibited Rosenthal pieces from the artist’s personal collection, which he built during the course of a half century, both in the Rosenthal home and upon its Southampton, N.Y. property.

Roland NY will feature various iconic works by Rosenthal, from small-scale cast bronzes to mid-size pieces and large outdoor sculptures. More than 35 never-before-seen smaller maquettes will be on display as well.

Also on exhibit will be select pieces that were available through auction in the early fall of last year, as well as sculptures consigned by private Tony Rosenthal collectors. One prominent highlight, which was also one of Rosenthal’s favorite pieces, will be included in the exhibit: Lovers, a brushed aluminum relief sculpture with juxtaposed geometric forms that was sold last year to a private collector. It graced the front yard of Rosenthal’s Southampton, New York property for more than 20 years and will be on exhibit in the Hamptons Fine Arts Fair outdoor sculpture garden, just outside Roland NY’s inside collection. The work is priced at $150,000.

Also in the exhibit will be Moon Flower 2001, a circa-1995 black-painted aluminum and steel bolt wall-mounted sculpture composed of irregular geometric elements with two interior voids, priced at $25,000; as well as A Ring for Stravinsky, a circa-1994 circular sculpture of white and black painted wood and steel bolts with rectilinear construction on a black-painted steel base, priced at $35,000.

Still another Rosenthal work, Big Red, from his Accumulation series, will be on offer for $75,000. The signed circa-1998 red and ochre painted welded aluminum sculpture is a large free-standing abstract comprised of juxtaposed rods arranged with a lattice effect.

Roland NY is the sole conduit introducing the collection, and will be working with the artist’s estate to represent the personal collection of Tony Rosenthal during the next five years. All pieces come with a Certificate of Authenticity signed by Cynthia Rosenthal.
