Comic art expert Calvin Reid to lecture at Boca Raton Museum of Art

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Calvin Reid, senior editor at Publishers Weekly (PW) and one of the world’s leading experts in the field of comics, will present an hour-long lecture on Sunday, July 7 at the Boca Raton Museum of Art.

Reid’s talk will tie in with the museum‘s current exhibition “Beyond the Cape! Comics and Contemporary Art.” He will discuss how his life has been shaped by art, comics and the book industry. He is internationally renowned as a central figure in the rise and success of graphic novels as a publishing genre. He will share his experiences as an artist, collector, and journalist.

Reid studied art education at Howard University. He has edited the graphic novels Comanche Moon by Jack Jackson, and David Chelsea in Love by David Chelsea. Reid is head of PW’s comics department and edits the PW Comics Week eNewsletter. Additionally, he is a co-host of the acclaimed comics podcast PW Comics World: More to Come.

The lecture will take place on July 7 from 3-4 p.m. at Boca Raton Museum of Art, located at Mizner Park, 501 Plaza Real in Boca Raton, Florida.
