HELLABY, UNITED KINGDOM – More than twenty top-tier exhibitors will be on hand for the annual Hellaby Hall Luxury Antiques Weekend April 24-26, in Hellaby, South Yorkshire.

In a demonstration of the ongoing strength of the high-end antiques trade, the event promises an exciting and eclectic mix of unusual and decorative works of art (including oil and watercolor paintings), town and country furniture, clocks, jewelry, sculpture, ceramics, oriental carpets, maps, prints and many other objets d’art.

Highlights include an original watercolor by Eleanor Fortescue Brickdale RWS (1871-1945) entitled “Oh Love!” from The Book of Old English Songs and Ballads, published by Hodder & Stoughton in 1926, and exhibited by Books Illustrated. Brickdale is best known for reviving the Pre-Raphaelite style of painting at the end of the 19th century.

Melody Antiques is exhibiting an early 18th century Welsh oak dresser from Denbighshire, priced at $12,587 (£8,500). A very unusual and stylish 1940s triangular aquamarine in a diamond clip brooch pendant, specially commissioned for a lady, is being sold by Plaza for $8,142 (£5,500). Garret & Hurst Sculpture are bringing a bronze horse entitled “The Tired Hunter” by the foremost English animalier sculptor of the 19th century, John Willis Good (1845-1879) priced at $19,200 (£12,975).

Long established dealers from northern England are exhibiting, including J. Dickinson Maps & Prints from Derbyshire, Melody Antiques from Cheshire, Ryland Fine Art from East Yorkshire and M&N Oriental Rugs from Manchester. Dealers from other regions Garret & Hurst from West Sussex, and jewelry dealers Plaza and Trivette.

“The Luxury Antiques Weekend concept has been very well received over the last year,” says Ingrid Nilson, fair organiser from The Antiques Dealers Fair Limited. “Small fairs with very high quality antiques and fine art on offer seem to be what the buying public like. It gives established collectors, as well as newcomers to the world of antiques, the opportunity to browse and shop in pleasant surroundings.”

Hellaby Hall, with its distinct 17th century gabled manor house, has state-of-the-art leisure and spa facilities with fully equipped gym and a 20 metre swimming pool. Those traveling a distance are encouraged to spend the weekend at the Hall in the Yorkshire countryside while attending the event.

In addition, show organizers are offering a charity prize drawing to benefit Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, a community healthcare service provider located in South Yorkshire, North East Derbyshire, North Nottinghamshire and parts of North Lincolnshire (www.bluebellwood.org). One lucky winner will receive a free weekend stay at the Hellaby Hall Hotel. The winner will be selected from a drawing of all visitor entry tickets.

Hellaby Hall is located near the M1 and M18 motorways, and only 7 miles from Rotherham Central railway station and 18 miles from Doncaster Robin Hood Airport.
