Auction 21 - International Posters

Our 21st San Francisco poster sale will be held on April 22. The auction features 403 poster lots of the themes Travel & Sports, Advertising, Military & Propaganda, Art & Culture, Film and Work Incentive.

The sale will begin with 17 MATHER WORK INCENTIVE posters and a selection of 50 MILITARY & PROPGANDA items from around the globe. The ADVERTISING section includes posters related to food & beverages, tobacco, clothing and consumer goods. ART & EVENTS includes small size art prints and Maitres de l'Affiche (Cheret, Toulouse-Lautrec, Mucha) and art & design posters (incl. works by Peter Behrens, Franz von Stuck, Josef Müller-Brockmann and Günther Kieser).

Some of the auction's highlights can be found among the 50 MOVIE POSTERS:the include the German sheets to Fritz Lang's Frau im Mond (Woman on the Moon) and a rare Louis Brooks poster for Diary of a Lost Girl.

The sale concludes with a fine selection of approx. 150 TRAVEL & SPORTS posters from the turn-of-the-century to the 1960s. Among the highlights are several American railway posters, incl. Chesley Bonestell's New York Central Building, Leslie Ragan's Chicago, two rare Bern Hill items and several early Southern Pacific posters).
