Provenance/Additional Info:My title for the combination of several geometric patterns in this handsome quilt.I think there might be a more formal name for the design. The red geometric print is sort of a stripe, not often seen. There are some splits in it, but not allover and not visible until you look closely. With careful handling there is lots of life left in it. Creative patterning combines: a Delectable Mountains pointed shape joined to become a pinwheel graphic; small Broken Dishes geometrics placed in the white areas between the blocks; a great border of steep elongated triangles placed densely all around. By setting the Delectable Mountain pinwheel blocks on point, and with all the pointed elements throughout, there is a special dynamic movement quality to the entire compoition, yet another unusual aspect to this mid 19th c quilt. There is excellent quilting visible in all white areas and in the photo of the white backing.
