Vatican Workshop micro mosaic plaque of "Raphael". Framed early 20th century. A letter accompanying this and the mosaic of Christ, lot 374 also in this sale, states the plaques came from the Vatican Museum and were given as gifts to then owner by Msr. Kass, head of the Vatican public works. It states the "Raphael" plaque was done by Prof. Cascio who was then in 1945 in his eighties. Probably done at an earlier time. Plaque sight size framed from the front: 10.25 x 8in. Overall size: 14.5 x 12in. Frame as-is.
