Description
RUSSIAN ENAMELED 0.875 SILVER OPEN SALTS, LOT OF TWO, each round form with enameled decoration raised on three ball feet, comprising one example featuring swag-and-tassel pattern to sides with beaded borders having maker's mark possibly for Ivan Saltykov of Moscow, and other example having a flat-top rim with flange decorated by scrolled and heart motifs with "GK" maker's mark possibly for Gustav Gustavovich Klingert of Moscow. Each with Russian hallmarks including an "84" zolotniki for 0.875 silver fineness, swag-and-tassel example with a Moscow city mark and an assay mark for Lev Fridrickhovitch Oleks of Moscow over a scratch-out date, other example having a kokoshnik hallmark with a delta mark for Moscow. Total weight including non-silver components: 3.155 ozt. Late 19th/first quarter 20th century. 1 1/8" and 1 3/8" HOA.
Good to very good overall condition with minor wear and surface scratches; swag-and-tassel example with a minor dent to base of well, a moderate scratch to underside, and a few minute flakes to enamel; other example with enamel having possible losses or as-made non-enameled components, possibly one or a few minute flakes.
