Item/Description: Early 19th Century oil on board portrait painting depicts a demure country beauty in period clothing and bonnet holding a basket of mulberries. Ornate gilt wood frame with beaded decorations and raised composite scrollwork in high relief. Signed lower left: J. Sedlacek. Joseph Anton Sedlacek (1789–1845) was an Austrian artist known for portrait painting. Ornamental metal plaque on frame reads: J. Sedalek. En verso handwritten note reads: "HANDPAINTED ON WOOD PANEL, 'ORIGINAL' FRANCE BEFORE 1880." Period frame and hardware.

Material: Oil on board, Gilt wood frame.
