Description
This is a Sage green Wedgwood vase with flare rim and classical figures and trees in relief on the surround. Hallmarked Wedgwood Made in England and with stamped letters JR, CC6T, J. Round base. 6.75 in ht. App 6 in. at widest diameter. Wedgwood was introduced in 1744 as a fine luxury stoneware in England. By 1780, larger objects were introduced. This piece can date anywhere from 1891-1929 from its underside marks, more likely vintage. Each color is created by staining the clay with metallic oxides. Sage green became as popular as blue.
