"The Sweet Potato Dinner" as this print is colloquially known, was the first in the series produced by the Apollo Association. It depicts Revolutionary War General Francis Marion (1732-1795) or the "Swamp Fox" who used guerrilla tactics in the swamps of the South Carolina Pee Dee and Lowcountry to confuse the British army, in a meeting with his British counterpart.
