Lot of 2 Painted Silhouettes of Women in Oval Frames - 1) woman silhouette appears to be painted with watercolor on plaster, artist identified as per a penciled signature on back side as J. Miers (1758-1821), sitter facing left, hair dressed with fine netting in original brass frame, 3 3/4" W x 4 1/2" H; 2) fancy bonnet and shawl adorned woman sitter facing left, appears to be watercolor painted on paper, back side with penciled illegible writing, frame is 3 1/4" W x 3 1/2" H. Note - Approximately 40 silhouettes throughout this sale from a vary early collection, some with paper numbers on the backside cataloged when purchased from New Hampshire and East Coast antique stores as early as 1920. Unfortunately the actual catalog has long since disappeared. Some silhouettes will sell in groups. They vary in condition and content.
