Lot of 2 Silhouettes of Man and Woman in Oval Frames - 1) hollowcut paper on fabric, gentleman silhouette, old inked note on back "Grandfather Howe, Portsmouth, NH, Inscribed on Back of Silhouette, Probably William King", 6" W x 6 1/2" H gutta percha frame, crack to base, labeled "Patented Aug 7, 1855"; 2) cut & pasted paper on paper woman sitter, penned lace dress collar and hair highlights, 5" W x 6" H. Note - Approximately 40 silhouettes throughout this sale from a vary early collection, some with paper numbers on the backside cataloged when purchased from New Hampshire and East Coast antique stores as early as 1920. Unfortunately the actual catalog has long since disappeared. Some silhouettes will sell in groups. They vary in condition and content.
