Description
Ting Shao Kuang. Harmony. (1939-) Born in Northern China, Ting Shao Kuang began painting almost daily at age 11 by making his own art supplies which were virtually non-existent after the Sino-Japanese war. He was invited to attend an arts high school and then graduating to the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing. He was inspired by the works or Matisse and Picasso, but he had to experiment in such style and then destroy his works less he be condemned by authorities. After Mao died, Kuang was able to flourish and exhibit his works. He moved to the US in 1980 and his career exploded finding great popularity and acclaim. In 1986 he created this serigraph on paper, "Harmony" featuring a stylized woman surrounded by vibrant abstractions of a graceful and serene woman playing a harp surrounded by cranes emblematic of long life. This is one of Kuangs' most recognizable works, number 136 of only 275 editions, and hand signed in pencil by the artist in lower right margin. Serigraph measures 33 x 33" and professionally matted and framed in silver gilt wood to museum grade standards to 43 x 43". In flawless condition and immensely appealing. Original COA included. Work originally retailed for $11,500.00 in the 1980s, with his more recent works presently retailing higher.
