Cherry "fiddleback" splat side chair, New London County (Norwich), c.1780, cherry, refinished, shaped crest with suggested ears over H-form stretcher bars, repairs to medial stretcher dovetails and proper right stile to crest tenon, seat corner blocks replaced, slip seat frame old and possibly original, retains old leather straps (for webbing) and leather sheet, both now dry and broken, chairs of this style are discussed and illustrated in "New London County Joined Chairs 1720-1790" CHS Bulletin Vol. 50, No.4, Fall 1985, Pgs. 145-153, a very similar chair is shown as No. 48, 38" h. x 19 1/2" w. x 16 1/4" d., wear consistent with age and use, including top left crest rail with repair, loss to one back foot, etc., sold as found,
