Description
A Chinese jade handled cup dating from the Ming dynasty. The exterior features a grain pattern ground with character roundels. The handles are carved with ruyi motifs.
Dimensions are: 1 inches tall X 4 1/4 inches wide, 2.5 cm X 10.8 cm. All measurements are approximate.
Condition: There are minuscule chips to the handles, but it is in overall good condition with natural variation to the stone.
Provenance: From the collection of Mr. Williams in Texas. Mr. Williams has more than 50 years of collecting experience in Buddhist sculptures, paintings, and ritual objects from India, Pakistan, Nepal, Tibet, and the Central Plains of China. He has participated in sales around the world including in Hong Kong and throughout Tibet and Europe. This lot was purchased from a Massachusetts estate auction.
