Description
The subject of this impressive Civil War photograph is Captain William C. Buck, who spent the War with the well-fought 39th Ohio Infantry. Buck who originally enlisted as a sergeant, served from July of 1861 through the close of the War, steadily earning promotions along the way. While in service, Buck and his regiment participated in over 15 engagements, including Corinth, the Atlanta Campaign, and the March to the Sea. This particular image, a large original full-plate albumen, depicts Buck as a Captain. Condition is fine, with some wear to the photo that does not impact the subject.
