Group of seven carte-de-visite (CDV) portraits of Sioux Native American subjects. These shots were taken by photographer Joel Whitney after the failed 1862 "Sioux Uprising" that culminated in the hanging of 38 Sioux men- the largest mass execution in US history.
Condition as shown, the front of each mount bears Whitney's imprint.
