Rena Begay (Diné [Navajo], 20th Century) Klagetoh Textile
handspun and commercial wool, aniline dyes
the hand-woven rug of medium-fine weave has a large central stepped lozenge-shaped motif, consisting of concentric bands of black, white and red, containing three pink diamonds, all on a grey ground. Stacks and groups of trapezoids and triangles in black, tan, red and white occupy space on the grey ground around the central motif. The border is a plain black band.
