Early American coin silver reverse arm sugar tongs, Piner Mansfield, Smyrna, DE, circa 1810, having bow with simple wrigglework border, flat horizontal-plane arms decorated with trailing wrigglework and oval nips. Engraved monogram ''P'' in script lettering on outer bow. Marked twice, ''PM'' in flowing script within a rectangle inside bow near arm juncture. 6-1/4''l. Literature: The distinctive mark of this scarce Delaware silversmith is shown in ''Marks of American Silversmiths in the Ineson-Bissell Collection,'' by Louise Conway Belden, 1980, Charlottesville: University of Virginia Press, page 287.
