Biography: The great master artist of the 20th Century, Pablo Picasso, was born on October 25, 1881 in Malaga, Spain. It is said that no man has more radically changed the nature of art. During his incredible life, Picasso mastered the art of painting, etching, engraving, dry point, woodcuts, lithographs, mezzotints, linocuts and aquatints.
As a young man he studied art at the Beaux Arts School in Barcelona and later in Madrid. Picasso is shown in most museums of modern art worldwide. He is included in great public and private collections throughout the world. His work is pure artistic genius. It started with Dadaism, a movement originating after World War I that emphasized the incongruous and accidental. This art of Picasso mocks established tradition. Along with the artist Braque, Picasso then invented Cubism in the early 20th Century. This Cubist school features fragmentation and rearrangement of natural forms.
Collectors acquire Picasso's works today in three categories: (1) originals and pencil signed prints, (2) plate or stone-signed prints, (3) works selected from the personal collection inherited by daughter Madam Marina Picasso. These unique works of art were created after the original oils of Picasso on hand-drawn lithographic plates, supervised by the legendary octogenarian Marcel Salinas, Picasso's trusted lifelong chromist.
