Yomut chuval, Igdyr tribe, Turkmenistan, mid-19th century. Bedecked in a spectrum of delightful colors, this outstanding chuval displays the traditional layout of nine well-articulated guls and delicately drawn chemche guls on a deep aubergine ground. It has an unusual border and the brilliantly ornamented wide elem panel at the bottom makes this a rare tour de force among other Igdyr chuvals of this calibre. Size: 3'5'' x 2'6'' (104 x 76 cm). Weight: 3 lbs. Material: wool pile, wool warp, wool weft.
