Yomut fragment of kizil chuval, Turkmenistan, mid-19th century. Multiple technique chuvals such as this one, using only an undecorated elem at the bottom, (here missing) were often made with stripes of extremely fine asymmetric knotting alternating with plain flat weave. Fine blue lines would run horizontally between the rows. These are often incorrectly called Tekke, confusing them with the ak chuvals with their white knotted elems, often cotton.
