Description
John Conger mahogany springerle rolling pin mold, circa 1827-1835. The pattern on the mold is flowers and leaves. It has impressed marks of "J. Conger / J.Y. Watkins N.Y.". Note - John Conger worked in New York City from 1827- 1835 as carver and baker; James Y. Watkins was a tinsmith and ran a Kitchen Furnishing Warehouse at various times between 1830 and 1845 and also was one of the carvers of Springerle boards in the Conger's workshop. The turned handle appears to be cherry. Very good original condition. 11 1/2"L x 3"W.
