Born into a family of artists in Bristol, England, Edmund Aylburton Willis found his own artistic success in New York. A member of the Brooklyn Art Society and exhibited at the National Academy of Design, Willis is best known for his nostalgic pastoral landscapes such as the painting offered here.

Allover craquelure; minor bulge in upper left corner; yellowing varnish and surface grime; later gold paint and with some loss to frame.
