Illinois Central Chicago Central Station Dedication Bronze Plaque Illinois Central Chicago Central Station Dedication Bronze Plaque. This one-of-a-kind plaque measures 33 7/8" x 36" and is cast from solid bronze. This plaque was located near the first-floor escalator. The plaque references both the groundbreaking and completion dates of Central Station in 1892 and 1893 respectively. Mentioned by name on the plaque are New York based architect Bradford L. Gilbert (notable for the first New York skyscraper), John F. Wallace Chief Engineer (Also served as chief engineer for the Panama Canal), and Joseph Downey General Contractor. The plaque has a minor dent to the upper left corner and a 2 3/4" section of ornamental beading missing from the left side. Please note that this is not a standard shippable item. This lot may be picked up in Lafayette Indiana or will require 3rd party shipping arrangements to be made.
