AMERICAN, POSSIBLY WISCONSIN, FOLK ART CARVED AND PAINTED BIRD TREE, a natural tree branch mounted on a stepped wooden base, featuring various carved animal figures having polychrome-painted features, consisting of 12 birds including two woodpeckers, two owls, and a dove, one squirrel climbing up the tree, and two cats sitting at the base of the tree, no signature located. First half 20th century. 23" HOA, 29" WOA.
Very good overall condition with scattered glue reinforcement possibly added later, some flaking to bark on branch, possibly a few minute flakes to paint.
Provenance: The collection of the late Theodore "Ted" and Alvina Breckel, Oley, PA and Winnetka, IL.
